Catch Kumara Sangakkara on this [:http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/281454.html|very nice podcast on Cricinfo]. Sangakkara talks to Sanjay about the Cricketers entering this World Cup and his opinion on who might make it big (he leaves out himself, obviously) Sangakkara seems very eloquent and also forthright. "I was average at both" he says, referring to his wicket keeping and batting. "But my father helped me improve".

Cricket isn't all that fun...

...when India's loosing [:http://ind.cricinfo.com/pakvind/content/story/235278.html|back] to [:http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/pakvind/content/story/235870.html|back] :P

I took the trouble to watch the whole of Indian batting (thanks to the [:http://hpnadig.net/blog/index.php/archives/2006/01/31/caught-viral-fever|illness]), first expecting that Sehwag would fire, then expecting Sachin to put up glorious batting - both didn't happen. While Sehwag was a big flop yet again, Tendulkar played very cautiously and was out the very next ball after reaching 100! The last 5 -7 overs of Indian batting was bad.

The Dullness of Cricket

Its gotten to all time vagueness, the game of Cricket. I found out that its not only me who doesn't fancy watching cricket matches anymore on TV (atleast the tests). The same old story and the predictable results of the games are really sickening for any cricket fan. After all, New Zealand is sure to win against Bangladesh, and Australians are sure to thump the pompous Indians. Its only in the ads that Sehwag can dive into the sea, run into the woods and still be able to take the catch.

Some *win* to cover it up, at last...

So, If you missed today's game thinking the obvious that India would lose, there's a surprise for you... India won! Having got the medals and an extra champagne, vaughan was caught on the camera, describing the Indian team as the best side. Indian fans would've nodded at this and forgotten all the woes that came by the previous losses of their favourite team. But the series loss doesn't affect the Indian players... atleast financially. They would continue filling their pockets with money that flows from all those stupid cola ads, promotions, while the TV frontrunners would fight for their booty. News was that the Zee Network bagged the rights despite lacking a in-house production for cricket telecast. Dissappointing, it would be the most, for the shaz-waz pair who would miss out on their dose of lovely girls in their shows. gmail UPDATE: am still left with 5 invitations... those who need it, can scroll down and leave mailids on the thread to get them.

Finally, we get to see India in finals...

It was a great match to watch. Lots have been said about it and written already to this hour. The nice thing of all, is to get to see Indians in finals. The most disppointed would be our Pakistani brothers... well, folks, there's always the next time! Sanath Jayasuriya was absolutely astounding! heya, from where do they get all that extra energy against India? baffles me. Then came Dilshan... I saw people bidding farewell to their television sets when he was sailing along, showing the ball the boundary rope! nice thing that the Indians never gave it up. It was nice to see Zaheer Khan bowling wonders at the end. If this carries on to the next game, Indians are sure to bring the cup home! Having said that, the sluggish game the Indians displayed (except the last few overs), ain't gonna get them the cup, for sure!
