Ho-hum World Cup this, for Cricket fans

A disappointing World Cup has just got worse. Just when it seemed a World Cup semi- final couldn't get any lower than the first one, it did.
[:http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/wc2007/content/current/story/292394.html|Samit Bal] on [:http://www.cricinfo.com|Cricinfo]. There have been reports on how dull the two semi-finals at the World Cup this time have been. The World Cup probably gained its dullness right from the day Bob Woolmer's mysterious death fogged the excitement. Adding to it, something that we've all been brainwashed with the overflow of information until now - the unforeseen exit of Indian and Pakistan teams. Going by the reports, except Australia - no team ever looked good, there were less close matches. Aussie dominance makes the tournament very predictable and monotonous. They haven't lost a single match! How boring could it get? But the crowd you might spot whenever you occasionally switch to the sports channel to watch Cricket this World Cup, makes you cross-check whether it is some odd series happening in some remote nation unfamiliar with Cricket (as it turns out, it isn't). The roar, the excitement seems to have vaporised. ICC might as well do better sticking to the sub-continent for hosting World Cups, if this keeps happening.
