So, I got around to sketch this today:
This is for an article that questions the prudence of State Government's decision to allocate funds for providing free Electricity to Farmers in this year's budget.
By doing this the State Government would be risking the depletion of underground water at a rapid pace. Since there no metering system for the water that is pumped out, the consequences could be serious.
Since the article took on this, my idea was to bring the satire to the farmer's home where people are happy watching Television (does this also strike any picture of Politicians gifting Television sets?) while there is queue for water outside.
Everyday back home, I'm to cross this village that has a lake beside it. But they've polluted it so much that they can not use the water from it anymore, even for washing purposes. Each day I see a long queue of Buckets and Koda, while people lined up look happy chatting. At times, they're watching TV in their little verandas (that probably also make up the living room in few cases)with a glance every now and then at the standing queue. I was inspired by this to sketch the above after almost years of no cartooning.
With no or less of Electricity bills to bother them, the people might spend on TV and get hooked to aid the already booming madness of TV channels. The politicians have reasons to be happy.
