Kannada Update

I was unaware of it until some of my friends sent me messages citing this. We've had 60+ registrations in just one day today (on Sampada) and the server was going through all sorts of problem bungling under heavy load (which was already because of several other reasons). This month, celebrations of Kannada Rajyotsava seem to have started well before on the Internet. There are several new websites coming up in Kannada. There have been talks of new commercial ventures centred around Kannada on the Internet - which is a positive development. English Wikipedia is carrying [[Karntaka]] [:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Today% 27s_featured_article/November_1%2C_2007|as the featured article tomorrow], on Rajyotsava Day. This is significant as great number of people will know about our state and maybe someday this will lead to putting an end to the Kannada-Canada joke. I guess we'll have to thank the volunteers from the region for making this possible - several submissions from the articles related to the region have been made in past many months for 'Did you Know' feature on Wiki. On a related note. few of us have [:http://sampada.net/event/6074|arranged a screening at Suchitra] this weekend. The film being screened is an art film in Kannada [:http://mukhamukhi.anivaasi.net/|titled "Mukhamukhi"]. The director of this film is a well distinguished writer and also an active member of Sampada. The screening is at 10:30 AM, Saturday at Suchitra Film Society. Do join in if you can.
